Access Fund work in Georgia
- Met with members of the Southeastern Climbers Coaliton to tour the recently acquired climbing areas of Boat Rock, GA and Jamestown, AL and strategize on issues of land acquisition, property management, and future projects (2006)
- Met and toured with a land manager at Crockford Pigeon Mountain Wildlife Management Area, GA (Rock Town and Lost Wall) to hear of their management and relationship with climbers and share the national insight and resources of the Access Fund (2006)
- Climbing preservation grants awarded in 2004: Southeastern Climbers Coalition, Georgia. Southeastern Climbers Coalition (SCC) for the Boat Rock Preserve. SCC purchased the 7-acres Boat Rock property with assistance from the Access Fund in 2002, and has held periodic fundraisers over the past two years to pay for the purchase. This grant is part of the Access Fund’s ongoing commitment to the SCC for Boat Rock. By purchasing Boat Rock the SCC has managed to preserve a small slice of a magnificent boulder field and its unique environment for climbers as well as the surrounding community to enjoy. (2004)
- Boat Rock, GA. Provided a $10,000 grant to the Southeastern Climbers Coalition to support their acquisition of the Boat Rock boulders near Atlanta. Acquisition of this historic area prevented the land from being sold to developers. (2002)
