Access Fund work in Montana
- Work with the Southwest Montana Climbers Coalition, assisting with an administraive appeal of a USFS plan that would severely restrict ice climbing access in Hyalite Canyon. Assistance includes lobbying congressional representatives in MT and Washington, DC. (2007)
- Drafted and issued an Action Alert and authored a letter to the editor of the Bozeman Daily Chronicle, in support of the work of the Southwestern Montana Climbers Coalition appeal of the USFS’s Hyalite Travel Management Plan which effectively eliminates access to 77% of all ice climbing and over 92% of the beginner and intermediate climbs in the Bozeman area. - Formulating a response to mobilize the climbing community to support the acquisition of a popular climbing area near Bozeman, MT. The acquisition of the land by the Trust for Public Land would resolve legal access to the privately owned crag. (2005)
- Worked with Southwestern Montana Climbers Coalition to build relationship with the AF and to create action alert re Land and Water Conservation money for acquisition of land on Bozeman Pass that has substantial climbing resources. (2005)
- Provided guidance to climbers from: Kootenai Klimbers and writing letter of support regarding climbing management documents and provided comments to a draft MOU between the Kootenai Klimbers and Post Falls City re climbing at Q’emiln Park around Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. (2004)
- Hyalite Canyon, MT. Working with local climbers to preserve access to ice climbing in the canyon. The Forest Service has proposed closing the road into the canyon as part of a Travel Management Plan. (2002)
